YQCA & Accessibility

Accommodations for Learning Needs

When choosing a training age level, select the training that best meets the needs of the youth. For example, if a 15-year-old youth’s IEP or 504 plan recommends the youth be allowed to work at a lower age level, select the appropriate age-level module to complete. Ensure that the entity requiring the YQCA certification (such as a fair board or species association) is aware of and approves this accommodation, since the youth’s certificate will reflect an age level that does not match their biological age.

Web-Based Training & Digital Resources

All web-based training modules and digital resources are designed to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. Screen reader performance may vary by browser and assistive technology. Learners can adjust audio playback speed and volume and have access to a transcript of spoken audio adjacent to each slide to support alternative ways of engaging with the content.

Quizzes and Test-Out options include narration in Junior and Intermediate levels, and optional narration in Senior and Young Adult levels, allowing learners to choose how they engage with the content.

Instructor-Led Trainings

Instructor-led training and the optional worksheets can be adapted to accommodate a youth’s IEP or 504 plan. For instructors, the Worksheet Answer Key PDF includes a plain text alternative at the end of the document to support non-visual access.

For in-person Test-Out options, a proctor may read quiz content aloud when appropriate as an accommodation.
